24/05/2012 Lanzarote/Arrecife (BG) - A seven month old baby was among four people injured in a house fire that broke out in Arrecife overnight. Last night/early this morning the Emergency Coordination and Security Service of the Canary Islands (CECOES) received several calls alerting them to a fire occurring on the second floor of a block of two houses in the Calle Managua, zona de Maneje, area of Arrecife and immediately responded.
Fire fighters immediately rushed to the aid of the baby who had suffered a mild burn to it´s leg. The remaining three people that sustained injuries include a 29 year old man who also suffered a mild burn to the lower leg area, a 23 year old woman who, at the time of rescue, was suffering from smoke inhalation and a panic attack and a 50 year old woman who had a slight ankle injury.
As soon as all four victims were tended to three of them (the baby, 29 year old man, 23 year old woman) were transferred by ambulance to Hospital Doctor José Molina Orosa. After the fire was extinguished the local and national police force worked effectively with the emergency services to ensure the appropriate measures were taken.
