02/08/2012 Lanzarote (KMC) - The President of the Lanzarote Chamber of Commerce, Jose Torres Fuentes has formally asked the regional director of Telefónica to choose Lanzarote as the location for the headquarters of the new Telefonica call centre.
The President wrote a letter to director Flores Mederos, asking him to give the possibility serious consideration as Lanzarote is the island with the highest unemployment rate in the Archipelago, exceeding 33%.
The call centre would be a great asset to the island of Lanzarote, as it expected that it will provide approximately 1000 stable, high quality jobs.
The President wrote: “If the Canary Islands are suffering a serious unemployment problem, in Lanzarote the unemployment situation is much more pressing.” He also offered full cooperation in all that was needed to get Telefonica to come to the island.
The Chamber of Commerce President also highlighted the significant tax advantages that Lanzarote can offer compared to other areas of Spain.
