26/09/2012 Lanzarote (BG) - The construction of the new secondary school in Costa Teguise is on schedule and work is expected to be completed by the initial deadline. The school is expected to open its doors in the second quarter of the 2012-2013 school year, the beginning of 2013.
Councilor for Education of the Ayuntamiento de Teguise, Lourdes Cabrera, has revealed that the date of completion announced by the Government of the Canary Islands is October 30th and delays are not expected.
From November on work will concentrate on interior decoration and the installation of furniture, so “between December and January”, the transfer of staff and teachers to their new headquarters will commence, explained Cabrera.
The Costa Teguise IES will have the capacity to accommodate up to 480 students. In addition to classrooms, spread over two floors, the school has built two sports fields, a covered pavilion measuring 1000m2 that will be used by both the community as well as the school, ten staff offices, a library, two music rooms, two computer rooms, two laboratories and various other amenities.
The project had a budget of €4,774,082.
