16/08/2012 Lanzarote (BG) - The Cabildo de Lanzarote has dismissed a complaint made by the Federation of Lanzarote Tourist Businesses (AETUR) against TUI Travel, for the alleged illegal sale of tickets for the new tourist bus ‘Lanzarote Vision’.
The complaint was filed in May based on alleged damage to organisations associated with AETUR, but according to the Cabildo, TUI’s behaviour is “in line with the regulations”, said a spokesperson for AETUR.
Carmen Batista, a spokesperson for TUI Travel that oversees the tourist busses, stated “we did not hear of this complaint and therefore not its resolution either”. Batista claimed the service was performing well and said “we receive about 250 users per day and although we have not fulfilled our true potential yet, it is a start”.
The company spokesperson also revealed that “negotiations are underway with the Cabildo to allow the entry of ‘Lanzarote Vision’ busses to Timanfaya National Park”. When that happens, users will be able to take a tour of the park on the busses without having to use the vehicles available at the tourist centre.
The Cabildo pointed out that the busses of ‘Lanzarote Vision’ have the same authority as the other operators “to transport visitors to Timanfaya”.
