29/03/2012 Lanzarote/ Spain (KMC) - This evening at 19.50 hours, Lanzarote receives the first flight operated by jet2.com from Glasgow. Lanzarote’s Minister of Tourism Carmen Steinert and the manager of Tourism, Hector Fernandez will travel to the airport today to welcome the passengers of the inaugural Jet2 flight from Glasgow to Lanzarote. According to the Cabildo a folk group will be present and a simple meal will also be available to “add colour and flavor to the welcome.
Lanzarote is one of five new Spanish destinations for the budget airline. Other new routes from Glasgow airport are Murcia, Malaga, Barcelona and Ibiza. The airline celebrated its latest investment by creating the odd culinary dish of haggis paella, a mix of the traditional dishes of both countries. Jet2 has said that it has already sold around 150,000 seats on its summer 2012 flights which start with prices of £29.99 for one-way travel. The weekly flight to Lanzarote will be slightly more expensive however, with flights starting at £49.99 for a one-way journey. All new routes are now launched, apart from the Ibiza route which will launch in May 2012.
